Notes from the Winemaker:
Montes Alpha Chardonnay has an intense yellow color with golden hues that continues with a clean, intense, fresh and frutal wine.
On the nose it shows pineapple and apricot aromas accompanied by asparagus and artichokes nuances while the butterscotch and vanilla notes given by its wine French oak ageing add complexity to the wine.
On the palate tropical fruit notes are evident while the creaminess given by the wine’s malolactic fermentation is perfectly accompanied by a bright and fresh acidity. The wine shows exquisite lactic notes and touches of oak with a persistent frutal finish.
Ratings & Reviews
:
92 Points – James Suckling:
“A rich and flavorful chardonnay with hints of vanilla and sliced cooked apple. Full body, plenty of fruit and hints of toasted oak. Only about 40% new oak and 20% malo – this gives it a fascinating brightness and richness. Better 2016.” – (July 6th, 2015)
89 Points – Wine Spectator Magazine:
“Lively and fruity, with flavors of dried peach, kumquat and blood orange. Fresh midpalate, with a lingering finish of flan and roasted pineapple. Distinctive. Drink now through 2017. 2,000 cases imported.” – KM (Nov 15, 2014)
Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
“The nose hints at green aromas of cool-climate fruits underneath heavy oak. This feels linear on the palate, while flavors of clove, pyrazine and tart apple lead to a slightly oaky finish.” – Michael Schachner (12/31/2014)
