Notes From The Winemaker:
A tribute to vintage North Coast plantings and field blends from two
vineyards, planted in 1918 and 1933. Zinfandel, Grenache, Petite Sirah
and Counoise. The wine is more old world than new, more structured,
and nuanced. Purposefully harvested at low sugars and with stronger
natural acids from sites well suited to this approach. A wine of
balance and restraint. Dense yet elegant purple and black fruited
tones, violets, bright acids and undercurrents of iron, powdered rocks,
wild sage and light dusty tannins. Native fermentation in an open
topped fermenter, whole berries. No pressing of the fruit, only free
run juice used. Natural acids. Cellared 16 months in 30% newer French
Oak.
