Notes from the Winemaker:
The 2017 CRU Cabernet Sauvignon offers fragrant violet and perfumed aromas along with cocoa powder, chocolate covered blueberries and crème de cassis on the nose. Full bodied, mouth-watering acidity, a touch of fresh tobacco leaf, hints of wet slate, and a dark blue and black fruit-driven profile fill out the mid-palate and lead to juicy, supple, fine grain tannins and a long, drawn out finish.
Composition: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
Ratings & Reviews
“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru is a darker, more smoky, backward effort. Currants, scorched earth, roasted herbs, tobacco, and chocolate notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced 2017 that has present yet ripe tannins and a great finish. It’s going to keep for over a decade.” (January 2020)
“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next few years. As always, Vineyard 29 does a terrific job making Cabernet Sauvignon at an affordable price. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, licorice and dried flowers grace this expressive, open-knit Cabernet. I would prefer to drink it on the early side.” – Antonio Galloni (September 2019)
“Blended of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru is deep garnet-purple in color with baked black and blue fruit, earth, herbs and camphor notes with dusty soil. The palate is medium-bodied, hollow and chewy with an abrupt finish.” – Lisa Perrotta-Brown (October 2019)
