The 4th edition of the mysterious and limited Black Art was distilled in 1990 and bottled as a 23yo. Initially matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in a variety of assorted wine casks, the exact details retired master distiller and legendary whisky maker, Jim McEwan, never disclosed. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 49.2%.
Nose: Rich and plump with sugared grapes and thick honey along with hints of lemon and lime and salty sea air.
Palate: Immediately “mature” with chocolate and sweeter tangerine and papaya balanced with barley sugar and cinnamon and aniseed.
Finish: Grilled peach and apricot sprinkled with demerera sugar.
