Nose is “vanilla lemon cake.” The palate is a balance of caramel, vanilla, spices and citrus. I’m not sure if they made the opulent bottle to match the Whiskey or vice versa.

“Bottled in a glass pot still decanter. Soft and elegant on the nose and palate, and very well balanced. An incredibly drinkable whiskey. There’s no age statement on the bottle, but it was bottled at just the right time, based on its great balance of flavors. Notes of vanilla, coconut, and crème brulee provide a base for emerging notes of cedar wood shavings, cinnamon, soft mint, and a hint of fennel. A very graceful bourbon.”

The intensity continues on the palate with a range of flavors, including a honey and molasses sweetness, and a light citrus. Willett Pot Still Reserve coats your throat as you take a sip, offering a pleasant, un-stinging warmness which remains for some time, leaving you with the spicy remains of what had been a sweet sip. Add some water or ice, and that’s when Willett Pot Still Reserve really comes out to play. You’ll find a light, fruity and floral aroma on the nose, a robust taste which adds nuttiness to its repertoire, and a sweet, soft, caramel and toffee finish. “On the nose, Pot Still Reserve shows a uniquely fruity bouquet: lemon frosting, ripe cherry, and mandarin orange. Underneath all that fruit are layers of butterscotch pudding, vanilla extract, and a touch of prickly spice. While Willett doesn’t share the source of this whiskey, it wouldn’t surprise me if some of this was their house-made bourbon because the sweet, fruity notes are strikingly similar to the latest Old Bardstown Bottled-in-Bond. The palate is nicely balanced with classic bourbon flavors: caramel, toffee, candied pecans, spice cabinet, and orange peel.” – Drinkhacker
