The founder of Compass Box, John Glazer, set up the company in 2000 because he felt too many people were selling whisky the same way. Thanks to his belief that blending creates something greater than the sum of its parts, Compass Box is now regarded as one of the great blending houses of the modern age. Their whiskies are all non-chill-filtered and without added colouring, regardless of whether it is a malt or grain whisky. The Great King Street range is named after the street in Edinburgh where Compass Box’s offices are located and contain a high percentage of single malt. The Artist’s Blend is a tribute to the blenders of the late 19th century, using whiskies from 4 distilleries with the main bulk coming from Clynelish, John Glazer’s personal favourite malt. The nose is sweet with cereal notes and vanilla. A rich and flavourful palate with buttery pastry and Christmas cake. Hint of rose and vanilla. The finish is again rich with shortbread flavours, pear and spices. Designed to be drunk in cocktails.
