Clement has have been producing Rhum Agricoles since the 1800s. Their founder wanted to use first-press sugarcane juice to produce his agricoles, so he bought a 43-acre sugarcane plot that produces some of the best cane in Martinique. The Canne Bleue is produced from a single varietal of cane, called, yup, you guessed it, Canne Bleue. It has a blue hue, hence the name. Bottled at 50% ABV, this Rhum is rested for 6 months before bottling. This particular expression is a limited vintage edition made in 2016. The funk has been dialed back, but there is still fresh-cut grass, green vegetal notes and tropical notes on the nose. The palate is sweet with liquorice and vanilla. The finish has some pepper heat and sweet lingering finish. Makes for one hell of a Daiquiri.
