A single cask release by independent bottlers Douglas Laing in their Xtra Old Particular (XOP) range. Distilled at the Laphroaig distillery in July 1996, matured for 21 years in a refill hogshead and bottled in 2017. Only 253 bottles were produced. Presented in a wooden box, with glass stopper and an individually numbered certificate. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a natural cask strength of 53.4%.
Nose: A maritime nose develops to warm cigar smoke.
Palate: The peaty, leathery palate runs to bonfire embers and a citrus tang.
Finish: The finish is long, with orange chocolate and smoke.
